Preventing the Misuse and Abuse
of Prescription Drugs
Presented by the Gen Rx Initiative of the OSU College of Pharmacy

Prescription drug abuse is on the rise. Nearly 1 in 5 teens report abusing medications not prescribed to them. These drugs are incredibly addictive, easily available, and dangerous. In this informative program, students from the OSU School of Pharmacy will discuss the dangers of prescription drug misuse and what parents, teens and community members can do to prevent it. Spanish translation will be available.

National Prescription Drug Turn-In
Prescription drug abuse is on the rise. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from the home medicine cabinets of family and friends. In an effort to help keep these potentially dangerous drugs out of the hands of Tualatin youth, the Tualatin Police Department participates in two national drug turn-in events every year. Unwanted prescription and non-prescription drugs are safely disposed of at these events. The next drug turn-in event will be held in the spring. More information to come.

Coalition Meetings
Coalition meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of January, April, July, and October. They vary in format and location. Meetings are a way to become become involved and stay informed. The coalition welcomes the participation of every member of the Tualatin community. Come learn how you can help build a safe and healthy community by reducing alcohol and drug use among youth and promoting positive youth activities.
